Summer Festivals 2024

Little Amal is a 3.5-metre puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl who has become global symbol of human rights. Since she began her journey in 2021 she has travelled to 17 countries, been welcomed by two million people on the street and connected with tens of millions online.

From July to September 2024, Amal explored some beautiful summer festivals across Europe including Ben & Jerry’s Sundaes In The Park Festival in the UK, Green Man Festival in Wales and Malta Festival in Poznań Poland. She finished her summer season of festivals with the Yorkshire Integration Festival in Halifax on Saturday 21 September and in Hull on Sunday 22 September 2024.

In September 2024 Little Amal returned to Poland, two years after her first visit.

Amal was the guest of the Malta Festival in the beautiful city of Poznań as part of the festival’s opening weekend. This year’s festival celebrates themes of the natural world and femininity and has a programme of street theatre, music, art installation and more…

On Saturday 7 September she chased the thrilling Domino installation – created by Arts Admin – through the city centre.  On Sunday 8 September she danced with students of Projekt Elimu at the iconic Poznań Goats clocktower in the city’s Old Market Square.

Yorkshire Intergration Festival

On Saturday 21 September in Halifax, she led a procession from Halifax Town Hall to the Yorkshire Integration festival at The Piece Hall.

On Sunday 22 September in Hull, her journey led her to Pearson Park where she helped celebrate the diversity of the city’s communities with the help of Hull’s renowned Freedom Chorus.

Little Amal’s visit to Yorkshire was jointly organised by Migration Yorkshire, Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council and Hull City Council.
