Interfaith Action of Central Texas (iACT)

Interfaith Action of Central Texas cultivates peace and respect through interfaith dialogue, service and celebration. iACT offers multiple platforms to connect people in recognizing their shared humanity. iACT’s Refugee Program offers English Language Instruction (ELI), youth mentoring, and health and wellness classes to newly-arrived refugees. We pride ourselves on making refugee families feel welcome and helping them establish roots in their new hometown of Austin. Also, iACT’s Hands on Housing utilizes volunteers and skilled professionals to repair the homes of senior citizens and disabled individuals who are living in deep poverty. Our goal is to keep homeowners safe and help them remain in the homes and neighborhoods they love. Furthermore, iACT hosts an ongoing dialogue program, The Red Bench, designed to address one of the most pressing needs of our time: improving interfaith understanding and civil discourse in our society. Finally, iACT’s Passport Program invites participants to visit different houses of worship from a number of faith traditions, building a deeper understanding and appreciation for all our neighbors in our community.
