Afghans For A Better Tomorrow
American Federation of Teachers
The American Federation of Teachers is a union of professionals that champions fairness; democracy; economic opportunity; and high-quality public education, healthcare and public services for our students, their families and our communities. We are committed to advancing these principles through community engagement, organizing, collective bargaining and political activism, and especially through the work our members do.
The American Federation of Teachers fights for a better life for all and for the next generation to do even better. We fight for good jobs and the right to a union; for high-quality and well-resourced healthcare, public services and public schools and colleges; to counter discrimination and division; and to protect the right to vote, the integrity of elections and our imperiled democracy.
American Immigration Council
The American Immigration Council is a powerful voice in promoting laws, policies, and attitudes that honor America’s proud history as a nation of immigrants. Through research and policy analysis, litigation and international exchange, the Council seeks to shape a twenty-first century vision of the American immigrant experience. In January 2022, the Council and New American Economy merged to combine a broad suite of advocacy tools to better expand and protect the rights of immigrants, more fully ensure immigrants’ ability to succeed economically, and help make the communities they settle in more welcoming.

Refugee Council USA
Refugee Council USA (RCUSA) is a coalition of thirty-six U.S.-based nonprofit organizations that mobilizes expertise, ideas, and influence to protect the rights of forcibly displaced people and build more welcoming societies. Since 2000, RCUSA has served as the only national coalition devoted to forcibly displaced people in the United States. With a diverse community of members — including all ten national refugee resettlement agencies — our work focuses on advocacy, strategic communications, and programmatic coordination. As a thought leader and convener, we advance collective learning and action to respond to displacement crises, transform humanitarian systems, and help affected communities thrive. RCUSA envisions a just world in which all people forced to flee their homes have agency, access to safety, and opportunity to thrive.
Refugee Congress
Refugee Congress (RC) is a national nonpartisan organization built and led by leaders who have experienced forced displacement that promotes the equal participation of refugees and all forcibly displaced people (FDPs) in decision-making on issues impacting our communities. With Delegates who represent 30+ countries and a range of professions across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, we prepare FDP leaders to be advocates and organizers, using their lived and professional expertise to promote policies and programs that promote the well-being and inclusion of all forcibly displaced people at local, state, national, and global levels.

Witness at the Border
Witness at the Border began in Tornillo TX in 2018 in response to the family separation crisis at the US/Mexico border. Witnesses helped close down child detention facilities in Tornillo and Homestead FL. A vigil to #EndMPP was held for 65 days in Brownsville TX in 2020 and a #Journey4Justice was held along the entire US/Mexico border in 2022. We track ICE Air flights, chronicle expulsions, deportations, and prisoner transfers, and report on other witnessing activity as we continue the “subversive act of seeing.”
