Spanning the River Foyle, Derry/Londonderry’s Peace Bridge symbolises a conciliatory handshake between two long-divided communities.
Alongside the orange and green traditions of old, today the city is home to people, cultures and languages from all over the world.
Like many of those who have arrived seeking refuge in recent years, Little Amal will walk the 235 metres that will take her from the former British Army base at Ebrington to Guildhall Square, home to the Guildhall – a landmark building with a turbulent past of its own.
A short journey but one that speaks of hope, forgiveness and as the name suggests – peace.
