Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Education Center
The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center aka The Clemente is a Puerto Rican and Latinx cultural hub rooted in the Lower East Side / Loisaida.
For three decades it’s been a mainstay of polyphonic vibrancy in Lower Manhattan. We connect and co-create with contemporary artists, cultural workers and small arts organizations by offering affordability of venues and workspace; and produce our own programming in a spirit of responsiveness, heritage conservation and provocative collaboration.
While focused on the cultivation of Puerto Rican / Latinx culture, we are equally committed to a multi-ethnic / international latitude guided by our namesake’s legacy of building culturally grounded multigenerational leadership, local power, and mutuality.
