Monday November 6th

Amal arrived to Tijuana with an official welcome from the Federal, State and Municipal government.  As a choir of 60 children sing for Amal, she witnessed the inauguration of a mural commissioned by UNICEF and the signing of a new declaration between UNHCR and the Government of Baja California.

In partnership with Gobierno del Estado, H. Ayuntamiento, COMAR, INM, ACNUR, UNICEF, OIM and the Coralifornia Choir.

Altares en Casa de la Cultura de Playas

Tijuana, Mexico

Monday November 6th

Amal was welcomed at Casa de la Cultura de Playas by the Director of the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture. The local community greeted her and mariachi serenaded her with songs of welcome, before presenting their altares de muertos. 

In partnership with Instituto Municipal de Arte Cultura y ACNUR, Apoya en la convocatoria el Programa Binacional de Educación Migrante (PROBEM) de la Secretaría Estatal de Educación.

A border is just a line in the sand

Monday November 6th

Surrounded by dancing and musicians, Amal learned about the generations of people who have come to the wall to pass stories of hope.  She looked on with surprise as she saw the border wall disappear into the ocean…
