Amal arrives in Tapachula, Chiapas on the border with Guatemala. She walks through the city, joined by folk dancers and musicians. When she arrives at the  Community Development Center (CEDECO) Railway Station she learns to play marimba, unveils a mural made just for her and breaks a traditional piñata, as the music of the Tapachula Children’s Orchestra fills the air.

Amal visits the Hospitalidad y Solidaridad Shelter to share a meal with families and children.  As they introduce Amal to the delicious dishes of their home countries, the Shelter Choir sings songs of welcome.

Amal is enthralled with the sounds of marimba groups who have come together from all across the Soconusco region.  She joins activities to mark ‘16 Days of Activism’, an international campaign against gender-based violence.

Amal longs to play soccer in the the south of Mexico and visits Los Cerritos Park to play with the Hospitalidad y Solidaridad and local teams.  A batucada of young musicians, soccer fans and families look on to see whether Amal will score a goal…
